Once again the Rotary Club of Woonsocket has initiated a program to distribute dictionaries to local elementary students as part of the Rotary Zone Literacy Project.

Following a very successful 2009 dictionary distribution program which contributed to the Rotary Club of Woonsocket receiving a Zone Literacy Project award, the Rotary Club of Woonsocket has once again initiated a program to distribute dictionaries to local elementary students. Pamela LaBreche, Program Chairperson for the dictionary distributions reports that the Rotary Club of Woonsocket distributed 398 dictionaries to the 5th grade class at the Woonsocket Elementary Schools. The club also delivered 30 dictionaries to Good Sheppard (Woonsocket Catholic Regional Schools) on January 27th as well as 180 dictionaries to the Bellingham Public Schools on Thursday, January 28th. Additionally 120 dictionaries will be distributed to North Smithfield, Thursday February 11th and the remaining will be sent to Fr. Benson in Ghana to support his starting of a library there for those high school age children he is educating in preventing HIV in Ghana. A total of 1008 dictionaries will be distributed. The dictionary distribution is one of several literacy activities the Rotary Club of Woonsocket will execute as part of the 2010 Rotary Zone Literacy projects.
